With over 800 members already in Cambodia, ANZ Royal is the first financial institution to join the network. The diversity of members allows the network to reach out to even more of the community and involve them in protecting children. ChildSafe Network believes that everyone has a role to play in protecting children and ANZ is in a unique position to actively support and be involved in doing this through its large network of staff and clients across Cambodia. The partnership will enable ANZ Royal to provide effective community services protecting children in Cambodia while enhancing ChildSafe’s campaigns through greater visibility and reach.

September 2007: ChildSafe Annual Meeting in Siem Reap
In September, ChildSafe-Siem Reap organized an annual meeting for their network members. Comprising of four sessions at FI Siem Reap’s new Transitional Home, 72 tuk-tuk- and moto taxi drivers attended the event.

During the meeting the relationship between FI Siem Reap staff and ChildSafe facilitators were reinforced. The ChildSafe team informed members about the new program plans for FI Siem Reap and shared the results of ChildSafe-Siem Reap in 2007. The meeting was also designed for the members to provide feedback to the ChildSafe team. The results showed that our members are still very interested in the ChildSafe program and the issues that are being addressed. They were especially interested in the tools that are used to protect children from sexual abuse.

September 2007: ChildSafe welcomes 62 new moto and tuktuk drivers to the network.
On 28th of September, ChildSafe held a ceremony to distribute certificates to 62 new network members. The new members are tuktuk and moto drivers from different locations in Phnom Penh who were trained with practical skills to know how to protect children, especially street children, from dangerous situations such as physical or sexual abuse, discrimination and the dangers of migration. These new members will enhance and enlarge the ChildSafe network and supplement the existing ChildSafe members. All members are volunteers who join this network because they would like to serve the interest of society and protect children.

ChildSafe would like to thank to their donors SCA, EWMI and UNICEF as well as the Safe Migration team and their donor World Education as well as all Friends-International and Mith Samlanh staff who took part in this important ceremony.
