June 2007: First ChildSafe Center was opened in Phnom Penh
On June 20th 2007 the first ChildSafe Information and Referral Center opened in Phnom Penh.
Following the blessing, we celebrated the opening together with our donors, friends and ChildSafe network members.
The center is open to anyone interested in the ChildSafe program, especially for ChildSafe members to receive refresher trainings, materials, English and Road Safety Classes as well as for travelers (tourists and business travelers) to learn more about street children and how they can protect them during their trip.

The ChildSafe Center is located near the National Museum, at #186, Street 13 in Phnom Penh (opposite Mith Samlanh Training Center and Friends the Restaurant).
Opening Hours: Mon-Fri: 10am – 7pm; Sat. 10am – 5pm.

May 2007: Be a ChildSafe Traveler! – First tour leaders have been certified ChildSafe
A group of 16 tour leaders and other Intrepid Indochina staff have received ChildSafe training, passed the ChildSafe test and have been certified ChildSafe. The international tour operator Intrepid Indochina is in the process of becoming a ChildSafe member. ChildSafe is now working with tour operators and travel agencies to spread tips for travelers on how they can protect children during their travels.

ChildSafe becomes part of Hospitality and Tourism training in Siem Reap.
The Ecole d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Paul Dubrule recently integrated ChildSafe training into its curriculum. Students will now learn the ChildSafe philosophy and principles as part of their training, and more hospitality and tourism staff in Siem Reap will be able to recognize children in vulnerable situations and respond appropriately to protect them.

The ChildSafe Guesthouse and Hotel network has now expanded to Sihanoukville.
Monkey Republic and Reef Resort have both been trained by our partner, M’Lop Tapang and are now certified ChildSafe members, helping to protect children in Sihanoukville from dangerous situations. More partners will be trained and join the ChildSafe network in 2007.

ChildSafe drivers now protecting children in Sihanoukville too!
The first generation of ChildSafe moto drivers in Sihanoukville received certificates at a ceremony on 20th October. The ceremony, organized by Friends International, our partner Mlop Tapang, the Ministry of Tourism and the Commune Authority recognized 31 moto drivers who now have ChildSafe certification and are helping to protect children in Sihanoukville from dangerous situations.
